  • PEOPLE AND THE MEDIA…IT’S PISSING ME OFF!!!!
I went to the Astrodome last night and ended up staying late to help out. Around 11:00 or 11:30 the Astrodome filled up and they wouldn't let any one else in, the people outside were getting upset, so they opened up the rest of the Reliant Arena to the refugees. I mostly got information on people and handed out bedding. I spoke to a couple people in charge and they said they needed Men and Women's summer clothing, toiletries, bedding, shoes, Diapers (I saw a child that had the same diaper on for three days last night), and toys/board games (for the kids mainly) right now. I wont be able to hand it out personally (unless assigned to) on the floor of the stadiums but I can bring it with me when I go in for volunteer duty and make sure it is given to the people at Reliant Arena and The Astrodome. I am going back in tonight after work, I have also signed on for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Anything you can give would be appreciated. If you don’t want to pay the postage Hobbes has listed a phone number on the message below for donations.
Every time a busload comes in you think you have seen the worst...Then the next one comes in and you find that you were so very very wrong. Some of these people didn't have food or water for the last five days. The amount of malnourished and dehydrated children and seniors is astounding. People are dying (mostly seniors and infants) because they don't have medication and the medical help is limited. These people have lost family and friends. Its getting better though, allot of volunteer doctors came in last night and sent allot on seniors and children to the hospitals.
NOW!! I will say this… I have never seen a more disorganized half assed rescue effort in my life!! One might ask, “How the hell would you know?” When 9-11 took place the president was out there the next day, it is a week after the storm and he is just now going to see the devastation first hand!! We had a full military presence in New York within a two-day period! In New Orleans they don’t even have a substantial military presence in the arena where they are keeping people so that they can be shipped out!!!
YES, most of these people are black! YES, most of these people are poor! YES, most of these people had to take food from abandoned stores to stay alive. How dare anyone who wasn’t, isn’t, and will never be in that position insinuate or accuse these people of being dishonest or destructive. The fact that most blogs give you the opportunity to speak your mind with out any repercussion is part of its charm and allure. I for one enjoy the opportunity to say what I want and never have to show my face. The sad thing is that it also gives people an environment to show their true colors and unfortunately most people are ignorant, racist, selfish, bigots who only care about them selves. Any individual or news organization that sets out to vilify these refugees should flown out to New Orleans and dropped right in the middle of the insanity. Lets see how long their arrogance last in a place where there is no food and no water to drink!! Pieces of CRAP!
YES HOBBES! IT MAKES ME SICK AS WELL!!
